2009 – 2010 Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program
The Humphrey Fellowship provides mid-career Palestinian women and men residing in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza with an opportunity to enhance their professional capabilities through participation in a specialized, one-year, non-degree program that combines graduate-level academic work with professional opportunities at selected U. S. universities. Programs are individually designed to include course work, independent projects, internships, consultations with U.S. experts, and special seminars. The Humphrey program addresses broad policy-making and problem-solving issues, rather than technical aspects, of the following program fields:
- Agricultural development/agricultural economics;
- Communications/Journalism;
- Drug abuse education, treatment and prevention;
- Economic development;
- Education/educational planning, including educational administration, curriculum development, and the teaching of English as a foreign language;
- Finance/banking;
- Human resource management;
- Law/human rights;
- Natural resources and environment management;
- Public health policy/management, including HIV/AIDS policy and prevention;
- Public policy analysis and administration;
- Technology policy/management; and
- Urban/regional planning.
Required qualifications:
- Good English language skills, with a minimum TOEFL score of 550.
- A minimum of five years of relevant and professional experience.
- A university degree of full-time study.
- Applicants must have Palestinian residency. Persons desiring or holding permanent residence in the United States are not eligible to apply.
