American Corner Gaza Hosts and Iftar

On Saturday, September 5, 2009, the American Corner in Gaza (AC Gaza) hosted an Iftar for university students, Gazan civil society leaders, and the faculty of Al-Azhar University. Dr. Jamal Al-Shareef, acting director of AC Gaza, read from U.S. President Barack Obama’s Ramadan Message, in which he states: “Ramadan is a time of intense devotion and reflection… (with rituals that) remind us of the principles that we hold in common, and Islam’s role in advancing justice, progress, tolerance, and the dignity of all human beings.” Frank Finver, Public Affairs Officer for the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem, sent a special letter that was also read by Dr. Al-Shareef to the guests, expressing gratitude to the Gazans who patronize AC Gaza, and the warmest of wishes to all who attended the Iftar, and their families.
