Washington Awards
MEPI has contributed over 530 million USD to more than 600 projects in 17 countries and territories since its establishment in 2002. Several different programming mechanisms are used to provide support to MEPI’s partners in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). One such mechanism is MEPI’s Washington Awards. Solicited, awarded and managed out of MEPI’s headquarters in Washington DC, these awards are open to U.S., international and multi-national organizations, receive up to several million USD and last one year or more. Some Washington Awards may also be regional, with activities taking place in several countries across the MENA region. All programs focus on the following key areas:
- Giving People a Voice in Their Future
- Supporting Quality Education
- Developing Economic Opportunity
- Empowering Women
- Increasing Opportunities for Youth
